About

This spring, the city of Fredericton will join over 80 participating communities across Canada in the Plant-a-Row, Grow-a-Row campaign. This innovative campaign encourages gardeners to grow a little extra and donate the produce to the local food bank to assist in feeding the hungry in their own community. So come on Fredericton, let’s get started!

Here’s how you can participate:

Step 1: Get out in the garden!

Whether you’ve been gardening for years, or just starting out; whether you have a huge backyard or you’ve got space for a few pots on your deck, you can help provide the Fredericton Food Bank with fresh, nutritious vegetables for those in need. The Food Bank accepts any kind of vegetable or fruit, so be creative. Grow things you like and have some fun!

Step 2: Harvest

To harvest your crop for the Food Bank, you have to think of a few things: like whether you will drop off the food yourself or get the food bank to pick it up? If you plan on calling to Food Bank for pick up, make sure to call ahead and wait to harvest your veggies until shortly before they arrive.

Step 3: Drop-off and Pick-Up

Whether you’ll be dropping-off your donation or calling to arrange pick up from the Food Bank, here are all of the details you’ll need:

Your fruit and vegetable donations can be dropped off at the Fredericton Food Bank:

  • Where: 860 Grandame Street
  • When: Mon – Thur 8 – 3, and Friday 8 to noon.

To arrange pick up call ahead to the Food Bank at:

  • 459-7461
